Gold Award

windermere Barn Conversion

Conversion of this barn retained the sense of the original spaces, using traditional materials and details to create a contemporary space for living. Substantial insulation, combined with renewable energy, helps provide energy efficiency.

Commendation

Renovation near Carnforth

A sensitive renovation which carefully preserved and enhanced this Grade II building’s original character and where contemporary interiors created for kitchen, family rooms and bathrooms ensured continued enjoyment for future generations.

High Hollins, Lorton

Restoration, extension and improvements using traditional materials to renovate a 17th-century Lake District long house for modern living.

Our entry for new accommodation for the club was shortlisted from nearly 200 schemes from around the UK.

Hadrian Awards 2007

Commendation

The Old House, Ambleside

Sensitive restoration of this 17th-century house and integral barn conversion, retaining the original character with sensitive interventions. The project also won The Isobel Wilson Trophy 2005, awarded by Ambleside Civic Society for best project making a contribution to the character of the town.

A valuable contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment, through the conversion of existing buildings for new uses, alongside a series of light-hearted interventions, such as specially-made gates.

Civic Trust Awards 1990

Commendation

Beatrix Potter Gallery, Hawkshead

Restoration and conversion of this former coaching inn – used as offices by Beatrix Potter's husband – created a gallery depicting life in the area at the time Potter was writing and illustrating her books. The project was awarded a 'Commendation' for its contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment.
